Mandana Karimi Quits Bollywood After Sajid Khan Joins Bigg Boss 16

The newest season of Salman Khan’s reality show, Bigg Boss 16, premiered last week over the weekend. From Tina Dutta to Shalin Bhanot, several known celebrities have entered the house to try to co-exist together for the coming weeks amidst surviving banters and winning tasks. Amidst all the ruckus in and outside of the house, actor Mandana Karimi announced that she has quit Bollywood.

The Iranian actor, who was seen in ventures like Bhaag Johnny, Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3, and recently in Kangana Ranaut’s show Lock Upp, revealed that she has quit the Hindi film industry after filmmaker Sajid Khan bagged Bigg Boss 16. Mandana is reportedly one of the nine actresses who came out to accuse Sajid Khan in the Me Too movement.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Mandana Karimi stated that she is not ‘surprised’ to see Sajid Khan on the screen again. ”For people, life has become like I will put my head under the sand. If it is going to benefit me, and I can make money, then who cares?” She also spoke about how the Me Too movement has hardly made a dent in India or other countries.

Mandana also scathingly called out the lack of action from the industry after the Me Too movement by asking, ”What is the action? Who is boycotting these people?” She continued, ”Nothing is going to happen. Because we are talking about the bigger industry, which is a place where someone is someone’s mom, boyfriend, girlfriend or husband. It’s like you, you scratch my back, and I will scratch your back”.

The 34-year-old announced that she will not work in Bollywood anymore and has not been on any auditions for the past few months. ”I don’t want to work in Bollywood. I don’t want to be involved with an industry where there is no respect for women,” Mandana Karimi said.
