Instagram now lets you bookmark posts with friends and store them in a dedicated space

In the year 2017 Instagram introduced an innovative bookmarking feature, dubbed “collections,” which lets users organize the saved posts into private groups for faster access. The feature is now available. Instagram is introducing a brand-new feature that allows users to create collections with friends.

The social network informed TechCrunch by email, that they are launching “collaborative collections,” a means for users to make connections with their friends based on their common interests by adding posts to a shared collection that they can share in their group chat , or a one-on-one DM. That’s right, users can share their posts with a friend or a number of your friends, and then save the posts to an area that is designated for them.

The new feature may be viewed as a means to allow Instagram to compete with Pinterest which has provided the ” Group boards” feature since the year 2018 which allows users to connect with one another on the platform.

“Now when you go to save a piece of content on Feed or from your DMs, you’ll see a new option to create a collaborative collection,” Instagram director Adam Mosseri said on Wednesday in the IG Updates Channel on Instagram. “From there, you can give the collection a unique name and then share the collection with your social media friends. When they get it, they will be able to begin adding content from reels, Explore Feed, and DMs into the collection, too.”

Every chat participant can edit or take posts out of the collection. Users can also choose of adding directly to collaborative collection of posts that are shared in chat. If there’s a message in a chat you would like to add to the collection of a group You can tap the bookmark icon near the post. You can then join it in a current collaborative collection or create a brand new one.
