Apple to get into virtual reality It might be the worst possible time

Apple’s headset will supposedly be a monster of a device, which could be part of the reason it might bring so much. It’ll reportedly have advanced hand shadowing, won’t bear a regulator, and can supposedly recreate notoriety additional’s full body in VR in one-on-one FaceTime calls. But it’ll also supposedly calculate on an external battery pack for power, which, to me, seems like it won’t completely track with Apple’s usual streamlined aesthetic. The advanced price might also be a suggestion that Apple is targeting inventors to start, not the mass request so it may be looking for a different pool of buyers than bias like the PSVR 2.

And those low Quest Pro deals happen indeed after times of investment from Meta to make an ecosystem. While we don’t yet know if Apple has an easy way for inventors to bring apps on other Apple platforms to the headset, I’d guess there will only be many headset-specific apps available to start.

It’s not just me that’s doubtful of Apple’s mixed reality headset, by the way, Apple workers have reportedly expressed enterprises, too. But all signs point toward the company revealing the device at the Worldwide Developers Conference on June 5th, and if effects keep going the way they are, Apple’s coming big thing might launch at exactly the wrong time.

Apple is heavily bruited to reveal its long-awaited mixed reality headset in just a couple of months, but that reveal seems to be arriving at a time when demand for high-end VR is actually relatively low.
