Hugging Face releases its own version of ChatGPT

Hugging Face, the AI startup with hundreds of millions of dollars in venture capital has announced an open-source replacement to the popular AI-powered chatbot of OpenAI, ChatGPT called Hugging Chat.

It is available to test via an online interface, and also to connect with existing apps and services through Hugging Face API. HuggingChat can perform some different tasks ChatGPT can handle, including writing code, creating emails, and writing lyrics for rap.

“We want to build the assistant of the future, able to not only write an email and cover letters but do meaningful work, use APIs, dynamically research information, and much more, with the ability to be personalized and extended by anyone,” Open Assistant writes on its GitHub page. “And we want to do this in a way that is open and accessible, which means we must not only build a great assistant but also make it small and efficient enough to run on consumer hardware.”
