Just over an entire year after the announcement of its first edition which was a repairable adaptable laptop, Framework is unveiling the second generation of Framework Laptop. It’s supposed to be significantly faster and slightly more robust, but more importantly, it’s a signal that Framework is serious about creating lasting devices. It could actually deliver on the said-to-be dream but never fulfilled of modular, upgradeable gadgets.
The main feature of the new laptop is its processor: it has a 12th generation Intel Core I5 or i7 processor with the most expensive model, priced at $2,049, that runs an Intel Core i7-1280P. Base models, running an Intel Core i5-1240P costs $1,049 when fully assembled. Preorders are open starting now and will be shipping in July, but don’t anticipate a speedy delivery: Framework is using a preorder system to handle demand, and it appears to anticipate that deliveries will take longer.

The Framework Laptop is a brand new model that Framework Laptop sounds like a pleasant, though not unpredictably enhancement to the models you already have. It’s worth noting, however, that the current model has already received a significant improvement over the model it released in the year before Framework added Wi-Fi 6E support from the beginning and has a selection of new devices for the expansion ports.
