A messaging service called Discord announced the purchase of Gas the app that’s loved by teens due to its positive take on social media.
On Gas Users join with their school, join their friends and take part in polls on their peers. But the questions asked in the polls are meant to increase confidence in users instead of destroying it. Teens could be asked to decide one of their four friends who has the best DJ and has the most attractive smile. The person selected will receive an anonymous message that includes their appreciation, which is sent by the vague “boy in the 10th year” or “girl in 11th grade.”
Gas was created in the year 2000 by Nikita Bier who sold the app TBH in 2017 to Facebook in 2017. TBH was later shut down.
Based on data from sensors at the Tower, Gas reached 7.4 million installations and nearly $7 million in spending by consumers after its debut in summer 2022. Users can sign up for an optional feature that costs money called “God Mode,”” which provides users with hints about who their true admirers are.

The app was the focus of a widespread rumor that sex trafficking was a problem that was totally fake but still affected the number of downloads for the app. Bier stated to that the Washington Post that he and his team received hundreds graphic death threats because of this rumor. Other social networks that are gaining popularity such as IRL as well as WalkSafe were also targeted by unsubstantiated trafficking allegations
While Discord is currently planning to continue to keep Gas functioning as a stand-alone application, Discord recently announced that it will integrate a variety of applications into its servers. This means that we’ll see positive polls from the community on Discord’s messaging platform in the near future.
