Dating application OkCupid has become the most recent business to join in the AI and ChatGPT buzz. OkCupid’s global head of communication Michael Kaye told TechCrunch in an email that OkCupid is testing a brand new type of match-making questions that are that are generated using chatbot OpenAI chatbot.

The match questions in the app let you identify yourself and what’s important to you. Also, the percentage of your matches with a person shows how you’re compatible OkCupid believes you are. The app contains hundreds of match-related questions and is currently testing a few which were created by ChatGPT.

“At OkCupid we always have our finger on the pulse of trending conversations within the technology industry,” Kaye stated. “And one of the topics that dominate discussions is ChatGPT. We started by asking our users what their thoughts are about ChatGPT and other developing AI tools. We found that people who think ChatGPT can be a lifesaver, get about 40% more Matches than those who believe it’s Big Brother. This led to an idea. What if we could use ChatGPT to write the popular matching question that fuel our algorithm? This is why we chose to test this brand new type of question, to which our users have responded very well to.”

The results of the survey have revealed that most respondents believe that they are introverts, and they prefer nighttime to morning hours. The answers also revealed that the majority of people prefer hanging out with friends on weekends rather than engaging in other activities. They also stated trust is the thing they most value in a relationship with a partner.

Since certain dating app users have utilized ChatGPT to create messages for their potential partners, it’s not to be a surprise the fact that OkCupid is also opting to use the technology to power its platform.
