Amazon along with Disney have collaborated to develop an experience interactive that brings together Alexa’s voice assistant functions alongside Disney’s vast collection of characters. The appropriately named “Hey Disney!” is now available on the majority of voice-activated Echo devices. It is the first time that Amazon allows a voice alternative to Alexa to be used on its different tablets and speakers.
If you sign up for an annual membership to the brand new voice assistant through Alexa Skills Store, you’ll get new ways to communicate with your Echo devices. The word that wakes you up will change in “Hey Disney!” which allows you to access something known as”the “Disney Magical Companion.” This gives you access to 20 new characters and voices that you can interact with across the entire roster of Disney’s corporate properties including Pixar movies as well as The Star Wars franchise. In addition, this service is provided as a perk for Amazon Kids+ at no additional cost.

When you dial your favorite character, you’ll be able to get additional personality when you ask whether the weather is correct as well as making an alarm. Amazon provides an example that includes Olaf in Frozen reading the weather, and an evocative soundscape that is inspired by The Return of the Jedi’s Moon of Endor. The focus is also on storytelling as well, with Amazon advertising “interactive adventures featuring people” in addition to “immersive entertaining.” Additionally is a brand-new multi-player Disney quiz game. These are only voice-only experiences on Echo speakers, and also with images on Echo Show tablets.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of this exclusive branding. The voice assistant was first introduced in the year 2000, but it was only available only to Disney Resort hotels. It’s now available to all for as long as you pay an annual subscription for $6 per year, or have already a Kids+ subscription.
