Google has made it more difficult for people to secretly put Apple AirTags on their friends.

The company is now releasing alerts from unknown trackers, the feature allows users to look for trackers using their Android device manually. The system will notify them when there is a tracker and help them navigate how to proceed.  that this tracker will also function in a way that is automatic  The Android can detect any tracker not known to be travelling with you.

And should you choose to click the notification that appears, it will display an area map showing where the tracker is located so you know where it is. At present, this feature is only compatible with Apple AirTags however Google plans to broaden the capabilities of this feature.

“Bluetooth trackers have brought tremendous user benefits, but they also carry the risk of unintentional tracking which will require a concerted effort from the entire industry to address,” Dave Burke, Google’s vice engineer in the field of Android, Said in the Press release at the time that unknown alerts from trackers were first revealed.

“Android is committed to protecting users and will continue to create robust safeguards and work with industry partners to stop the use and misuse of Bluetooth trackers.”

This feature was first announced in May as a surprise partnership that was announced by Apple as well as Google both businesses which typically don’t collaborate. Prior to this rollout, Android users didn’t get immediate notifications from people who kept their locations in secret, as opposed to Apple owners. However now, this feature may lead to the creation of an industry standard to make sure that people are aware when the tracker is following them.
