Threads will soon be available as an online Version, a popular feature, which might be exactly what Meta requires to draw its declining user base to return to the application.
As per The Wall Street Journal, the launch on desktops is planned to launch “early next week” however, the plans aren’t definitive and are subject to alteration. Instagram head Adam Mosseri posted on Threads this week that Instagram is working towards launching its web-based version “in one or two weeks” However he noted that it “still requires some work.
It was launched in July and the Text-first X competitor racked up nearly 100 million users within its first week, eclipsing chatGPT in its position as the most popular app to grow ever. However, Threads has seen its users’ active base decrease rapidly after it was launched, with a lot of users asking for a better user-friendly experience.

According to Mashable’s Chris Taylor, “The absence of a Web-based version of the application rendered it inaccessible for users who are tied by desktops.”
Threads has slowly yet steadily added new features since it was launched. When it first launched in the last month, essential features were not available such as editing alt-text to a feed that was chronological. In the month of March, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg joined Threads to reveal new features to the application that include customized alt-text for images and videos, as well as the addition of a mention button that allows users to include other accounts in the post.
