Apple announces its 2023 Apple Design Award winners

Apple has announced its winners of the 2023 Apple Design Awards during the annual Worldwide Developers Conference this week. Every year the tech giant awards 12 games and apps in six categories: Inclusion as well as Delight and Fun Social Impact, Interaction Graphics and Visuals, and Innovation. The winners were picked from 36 shortlisted entries.

In the category of inclusion, The app that received the top prize is located in Brooklyn. World, which is a web-based builder which lets you pick the best domain for your site and create a shop within only a few minutes. The game that took the top prize in this category was Stitch created by the Thai company Lykke Studio which lets users stitch designs on the fly.

A popular app for language learning Duolingo is a well-known language learning app that took home the category Delight and Fun. Afterplace is a classic adventure game with pixel graphics, won the prize for the game segment within this class. It was developed in the U.S. by U.S.-based creator Evan Kice.

In the category Interaction which was won by the app, the award was Flighty which gives users precise flight maps as well as airport-related navigation and delay forecasting. The game that was awarded the award in this category was Railbound. Developed by Polish-based Afterburn, Railbound is a track-bending puzzle game featuring two dogs who travel by train across the globe.

“Apps as well as games have become fundamental to our lives as we work, play, and live. At Apple we are proud to celebrate exceptional developers whose apps display amazing creativity and design excellence,” said Susan Prescott the Apple vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, in an official press announcement. “We are thrilled to honor every one winner of the Apple Design Award winners for creating thoughtful experiences for their apps and captivating gameplay, which is inspiring and enthralling for users across the world.”
