Google will begin with a blue checkmark to senders’ names on Gmail to confirm their authenticity the business revealed the news on Wednesday. The blue checkmarks that are coming will appear automatically on the side of companies who have opted to use Gmail’s Brand Indicators to identify messages (BIMI) option.
It is the BIMI function, that will be was rolled out in 2021 will require senders to use solid authentication and confirm their logo in order to show a logo of their brand in emails. Users will see a checkmark icon for those who have accepted this BIMI feature. Google states that this update will allow users to discern messages that are legitimate and authentic, as opposed to fakes.
When you hover above the checkmark in blue beside the name of the sender there will be an unreadable message that reads “the sender of this email has verified” that they own the domain as well as the logo in their profile image.
