Google I/O, the tech giant has announced that it had enabled the streaming of apps through Phone Hub in ChromeOS Beta. This feature lets you play different apps from your Android phone directly within a dedicated browser that is accessible on your Chromebook. When Phone Hub is activated and enabled, you can perform tasks such as checking your phone’s notifications, browsing open tabs, and streaming apps using your phone’s Chrome browser to your Chromebook.
On its support webpage to support the new feature Google says that the feature is available for “Pixel 4A and higher that runs Android version 13 or later.” For smartphones that aren’t Pixels, app streaming is compatible with Xiaomi 12T Pro, 12T Pro 13, and 13 Pro as well as 13 Pro running Android 13 or higher.
It is possible to stream applications by clicking on a message notification from a messaging app or by browsing through the hub’s “Recent Apps” section after you’ve launched the app from your smartphone. It is also possible to open an app through “All Apps,” which is accessible through the “Recent Apps list within Phone Hub.

“You can now complete quick tasks like replying to a conversation, checking on the status of rideshare or delivery, and editing your shopping list by streaming your Android phone’s apps on your Chromebook.
It is possible to use the Google Chromebook’s trackpad for zooming in or out of an app in the same manner as with a touchscreen phone. If your Chromebook is equipped with touchscreen support, you can utilize the touchscreen for interaction with the streaming app.
