WhatsApp announced this morning that it’s introducing an innovative Lock feature that will provide users with additional protection for the most private conversations. The name of the feature suggests that this feature allows you to secure a chat. This will remove the conversation from the inbox and place it in its own folder that is only accessible with a device password or biometric data, such as fingerprints.
If you have locked a chat, the app will then instantly block the contents of the chat from notifications. You can block chats by pressing the chat’s name single or group and choosing”lock. To open these chats, you need to pull slowly back on your inbox and enter your phone’s login or biometric.
“We think this feature will be great for people who have reason to share their phones from time to time with a family member or those moments where someone else is holding your phone at the exact moment an extra special chat arrives,” the company said in the form of a blog article.

While WhatsApp provides end-to-end encryption but that’s not the case in situations where someone has access to your mobile and views your messages. This new feature adds an additional layer of security in these situations.
