A few weeks after cutting 1,300 employees (or 15 percent of its staff), Zoom is adding new features to compete against a myriad of businesses, including Slack, Calendly, Google and Microsoft. These include AI-powered meetings reports, quick-based email responses as well as whiteboard generation, as well as video “Huddles” as well as an agenda planner.
Zoom wants you to delegate some of your tasks to its software. In this regard, Zoom is opening up its calendar and email clients to all. Zoom is a video-conferencing company that has been exploring these applications in the last year as part of an extensive exploration area that extends beyond meetings. Also, they have hosted calendar and email services available with complete encryption and personalized domains for paying users. These services could be used by companies in lieu of Microsoft Exchange and Google Workspace.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to sit for more than a few minutes without hearing about new generative AI features. Zoom has expanded its Zoom IQ assistant to offer AI-powered overviews and “ask more questions” even if you are in an event midway through. After the meeting is over the bot will publish the summary on the Zoom team chat. The assistant will also summarise the chat threads within the chat room.
Zoom promises a bright future for the company with Zoom IQ which allows users to compose chats, emails, and whiteboard sessions to create agendas for meetings. Zoom is inviting users to test the features and plans for a larger rollout in the future. The company has announced that it’s working with OpenAI to provide these AI features, however, it did not say if the partnership only covers API usage or something more.
