Pinterest increases its Creator Fund for underrepresented groups

Pinterest revealed today that it is expanding the Creator Fund for underrepresented groups to five additional countries comprising Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and France. The company introduced the $5000 Creator Fund in 2021 and also announced the addition of an additional $1.2 million for the fund in 2017. Pinterest has told TechCrunch via email it had invested more than $2.3 million in cash grants as well as ads credits to support this particular program.

The fund is focused on supporting the work of creators from minority groups, by providing both educational and financial resources. Pinterest states that since its start the fund has assisted hundreds of Creators in the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Brazil. They received education and advice from experts, individualized consultation, and financial grants in cash or ad credits.

“Our mission is to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love, and inspiration is fueled by diversity of experiences, perspectives, and communities,” said Zeny Shifferaw who is the Creator Inclusion Lead at Pinterest in an announcement. “Expanding this program will unlock more opportunities for disproportionately underrepresented creators and content producers to gain financial support, exposure, and resources and reach new audiences looking to be inspired by their passions on our platform.”

Following the announcement of its Creator Fund on April 20, 2021, Pinterest in the fall of last year announced that it is toward Creator Rewards across the United States, which would compensate creators directly for taking part in “challenges.” The company the program in November of last year.
